Native Pollinator Meadow Seed Mix - 1 packet, covers 100 sq ft

10.00

Attract bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and beneficial insects with this dramatic wildflower show. The combination of native annuals and perennials in this seed mix provides an ongoing succession of flowers over multiple years. This seed mix includes native bunch grasses to provide nesting habitat for bees and to reduce weed encroachment.

Unlike other ‘pollinator’ seed mixes for the Northwest, this mix includes 100% true native species, including some fairly rare and hard-to-find plants such as springbank clover (Trifolium wormskioldii) and Puget Gumweed (Grindelia integrifolia). This mix is formulated to cover 100 square feet (seeding density = 40 seeds per square foot). You will receive 1 packet with 0.5 ounces of seed.

Planting Instructions:

When planting native grass and wildflower seed, we recommend sowing on bare, weed-free ground following extensive site preparation to reduce as much dormant weed seed as possible.

Summer soil solarization, using clear UV-stabilized plastic has consistently been the most successful site preparation method we have tested. For more information on this process, check out the excellent Xerces Society publication, Establishing Wildflower Meadows from Seed.

When planting, we recommend you hand scatter seed directly onto the soil surface, shaking the seed mix periodically during sowing to ensure the seed remains evenly distributed in the mix. Do not bury the seed or cover it with soil.  Plant in early spring (March - early April) or fall (September – November).  PLant in full sun ideally.  A small bit of shade is okay, but not deep shade.  Store in refrigerator until planting.
